01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

At Occochi, meatballs come with a choice of tomato, demi-glace, honey mustard or Japanese-style grated-daikon sauce. They’re served with homemade mashed potatoes and vegetables. The standard portion has 3 meatballs, but you can choose 2 or 4 instead, making it easier to order a smaller serving alongside other dishes. One diner recalled trying the meatballs with several sauces, including Japanese-style and honey mustard, and said they went particularly well with wine.

For pasta, there’s a tomato-based dish with 3 meatballs, which some diners describe as a signature. Others have enjoyed the rich carbonara, or paired its well-coated pasta and the meatball pasta with wine. For a seafood option, consider the Calabria-style spaghetti with sardines and lemon. One diner described its flavour as both deep and refreshing.

You could start with something to nibble on, such as an anchovy salad or carpaccio, while you wait for the pasta. One diner found the anchovy salad pleasantly savoury without being too salty, and just right with a first drink. The drinks list also includes draft beer, sake and highballs, as well as wine.

For dessert, there’s handmade brûlée and roasted sweet potato brûlée, both listed as available in limited quantities. The broad menu suits an evening of sharing several small dishes just as well as a meal built around pasta.
